Aquarium prices

HOW CAN I FIND OUT HOW MUCH AN AQUARIUM COSTS?

To determine the price of your aquarium, simply contact us by phone or use our estimate request form. On the basis of your requirements (dimensions, cold water / warm water, colour and leg or base finish, etc.), we’ll draw up a customised estimate as soon as possible, free of charge.

WHY IS THERE SUCH A DIFFERENCE IN PRICE COMPARED TO CONVENTIONAL AQUARIUMS?

You need to bear in mind that the aquariums found in garden centres are all factory-made in Asia – with quality standards, materials and technical equipment corresponding to their retail price. By choosing an Aquaniman aquarium, you’ll be choosing French workmanship, top-of-the-range materials, and high-performance, robust technical equipment. On top of that, we’ve developed a specific filter system to cut maintenance to a minimum. This will guarantee you lasting safety and peace of mind.

HOW DO I PAY?

The starting point for work on the manufacture of your aquarium is when you pay us a deposit on order; this usually corresponds to 30% of the total price for standard models, or 50% for bespoke models. The balance is paid on delivery, except if finance is arranged with our partner Financo. Both the deposit and balance can be paid by bank transfer, bank card or cheque.

IS IT NECESSARY TO PURCHASE THE BASE WITH THE AQUARIUM?

There’s no problem with ordering your aquarium without a base: all the technical equipment is directly integrated into the aquarium. We do however offer bases to fit our aquariums, designed in particular to bear their weight, for all models except table aquariums. Note too that a matching base allows you to show off your aquarium to its best advantage, and provides appreciable storage space for all the maintenance accessories. All our bases are individually made and hand-painted, and you can choose which way the access door opens.

DOES AN “EQUIPPED AQUARIUM” INCLUDE THE DECOR AND THE FISH?

All our aquariums are fully fitted, i.e. with the necessary technical equipment to operate them: the pumps, lighting, filter system, and heating if required. The decor can be supplied as an optional extra by our approved installers – don’t forget to ask us for it when you order! However, fish are never supplied with the aquarium: please bear in mind that a new aquarium must be up and running for two to three weeks before adding any fish.

Choosing your aquarium

How do I choose the aquarium that’s right for me?

We believe that a top-of-the-range aquarium should blend in nicely with your interior. That’s why we give you advice to help you choose the model of aquarium that will best meet your expectations, in terms of the range (table aquarium, column aquarium, bar aquarium, etc.), the dimensions, and the finishes (colours, surrounds, etc.). Don’t hesitate to send us photos, or plans of your project.

HOW CAN I BE SURE OF FINDING THE AQUARIUM THAT WILL GO BEST WITH MY DECORATION?

All our aquariums are unashamedly top-of-the-range, and their design goes equally well with modern and traditional interiors. We offer you a range of 22 aquarium models, four colours of Planilaque for the surrounds, two tints for the mirror finish, and over 500 shades for bases and table legs. The result is that each aquarium is a unique item – and a perfect fit for your home.

DO YOU COME OUT ON HOME VISITS TO DRAW UP ESTIMATES?

To ensure the best responsiveness, in addition to trade shows and the showroom, our preferred solution is contact by phone and over the internet to draw up estimates. You can also send us plans and photos, and this is usually enough for us to suggest the best choice of aquarium for you.

DO YOU MAKE MADE-TO-MEASURE AQUARIUMS?

All our aquariums are individually made, so we can easily create your bespoke aquarium, tailored to the measurements and format you require. We then adapt the design (glass thickness, reinforcements) and equipment (pump, lighting, etc.) according to its particular features. Please note that made-to-measure designs require more work, so there’s usually an additional cost compared to our standard models in the range.

CAN AN AQUARIUM BE USED TO SEPARATE TWO ROOMS?

Of course! Thanks to our plasma aquariums, you can organise the space in your home, without losing any of it. Take a look at our Mykonos and Naxos models, which will allow you to enjoy your fish from both rooms.

See our aquariums

Où voir vos aquariums ?

Since 1993, we’ve been exhibiting our aquatic furniture creations at the main trade shows and fairs in france. We also have a showroom near hyères, var, where you can come and meet us all year round and see what’s new in our designer aquariums.

WHICH TRADE SHOWS DO YOU EXHIBIT AT?

We try to exhibit at as many trade shows as possible, so that as many people as possible can see our creations and come and meet us. We can’t be at every fair, but the Foire de Paris trade show is an event that is of prime importance where you can be sure of finding us each year. We also exhibit elsewhere in France (Lyon, Nice, La Rochelle, etc.) depending on the trade shows scheduled. Don’t hesitate to consult the schedule of events we’ll be taking part in.

DO YOU HAVE A SHOP WHERE YOUR AQUARIUMS CAN BE SEEN?

In September 2013, we opened a showroom in Le Pradet, Var, where we have a permanent display of aquarium models. Our website is also a showcase, where you can view our entire range thanks to photos and videos.

HOW CAN I GET IN TOUCH?

The easiest way of talking to us is to call us! Alternatively, you can send us a message using the contact form on our website. We also love welcoming visitors to our showroom.

Delivery of your aquarium

DO YOU DELIVER EVERYWHERE IN FRANCE AND ABROAD?

We deliver everywhere in Metropolitan France, French overseas départements and territories, and abroad. Your aquarium is delivered by the carrier in a wooden crate, with transport insurance taken out by us.

HOW LONG DO DELIVERIES TAKE?

The time required to deliver products may vary depending on the time of year (particularly after trade shows), but in general you should allow for a two to three-month wait.

Installing your aquarium

CAN I INSTALL MY AQUARIUM MYSELF?

All our aquariums are delivered with very detailed technical instructions describing exactly how to install your aquarium. Depending on the weight and size of the models, you are advised to have the help of people strong enough to carry it. We also remain available by phone to help you. How long does installation take? Of course, this depends on the model, but on average, it takes about two hours, including filling it with water and adding the decor. Don’t hesitate to contact us – we’ll be more than happy to provide you with explanations of how your aquarium works, help for maintenance operations, and guidance as to your choice of fish.

DO I NEED TO HAVE A WATER SUPPLY AND DRAIN FITTED?

Our aquariums and water walls work in a closed circuit, so you don’t need to have a water supply or drain next to the aquarium. All you need is a power socket nearby!

WHICH WATER DO YOU USE TO FILL IT?

Your aquarium water mustn’t be too hard, or too high in chlorine. This means you may need to mix your tap water with purified water. The dosage will depend on the hardness of your water. When our installers take care of the water filling process, they bring the purified water necessary. Alternatively, you can also produce purified water yourself, using a water purifier (optional accessory); this allows you to use pure water for topping up.

SHOULD I USE A PARTICULAR TYPE OF GRAVEL?

The decorative gravel in the bottom of the aquarium is usually quartz. Above all you should avoid using any limestone-rich minerals; these will make the water harder. In addition, a nutritional substrate for the plants (e.g. Aqualit) should be added beneath the gravel.

CAN YOUR AQUARIUMS BE MOVED?

In addition to an aquarium full of water being very heavy, any movement risks damaging seal integrity. This means that you should in no circumstances move your aquarium when it is full. To be moved it must be empty, or at the very least partly emptied. This means it’s important to choose the location of your aquarium carefully on installation. The use of castors or Teflon pads beneath your aquarium to move it is also strongly discouraged.

Caring for an Aquaniman aquarium

WHY ARE YOUR AQUARIUMS SO LOW-MAINTENANCE?

Each of our aquariums has its very own miniature water treatment plant, using optimised circulation. This filters all the water every 10 minutes – 30 times faster than in a traditional aquarium. This super-effective filter system is directly integrated into the design of the aquarium, enabling 95% of fish waste to be eliminated and avoiding it decomposing in the gravel. This means there are far fewer problems with bad smells, algae and murky water, and water changes are kept to a minimum: one third of the water twice a year, comparing favourably to traditional aquariums, which need their water changing every three weeks. What’s more, filter components usually need thorough cleaning once a month, but our aquariums make this chore far simpler: all you need to do is rinse the prefilter once a month. Who can do better?

WHAT’S LEFT TO DO WHEN IT COMES TO UPKEEP?

Simply feed your fish once a day (that takes all of 5 seconds!). Regular upkeep involves nothing more than simply rinsing the prefilter in clean water once a month, and topping up the water from time to time – depending on how much evaporation there is. The activated carbon needs changing only once every 4 months, while water changes are few and far between (one third twice a year). By comparison, a traditional aquarium will require you to carry out two to three hours’ maintenance every week!

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO CHANGE THE WATER?

Don’t empty your aquarium entirely – just one third of the water! This is very easy to do: simply connect a pipe to the aquarium pump. This will pump the water out of the aquarium into a bucket or watering can: you no longer need to be scooping water out in the middle of your lounge.

WILL GREEN ALGAE GROW ON THE SIDES OF THE AQUARIUM?

By changing the type of lighting we use, we’ve reduced green growth on the glass by 90%. That’s because we no longer use neon tubes, opting instead for LED lighting technology specific to our aquariums. These have the same spectrum as the sun (6000 Kelvin) to encourage the growth of aquatic plants. LEDs don’t get very hot, and make for far less growth of algae on the sides of the aquarium. What remains can be cleaned by glass-cleaning fish.

SHOULD THE GRAVEL BE CLEANED OR WASHED REGULARLY?

Thanks to the special bottom current in our aquariums, there’s no need to wash or clean your gravel. All the waste is carried away and broken down in the filter column. This means you can keep the same gravel for several years without ever needing to change it.

WHAT TYPE OF WATER SHOULD BE USED TO TOP UP AFTER EVAPORATION?

The water that evaporates is pure, so to maintain the balance of the aquarium, top up the level with purified water. Topping up with tap water may increase concentrations of mineral elements, in particular scale.

WILL THE AQUARIUM ALWAYS REMAIN AS BEAUTIFUL?

If you follow the few instructions provided (not too much food, recommended lighting time, regular filter cleaning, etc.), you’ll be able to enjoy a top-of-the-range aquarium that stays just as beautiful, with clean glass sides, clear water, and healthy fish – every day.

Fish

ARE THE FISH SUPPLIED?

We don’t supply fish with our aquariums, because you have to wait at least 2 to 3 weeks before adding them. It’s up to you to add them gradually. And it’s so exciting to choose your own fish!

HOW DOES THE AUTOMATIC SAFEGUARDING OF YOUNG FISH WORK?

AWhen they are born, the young fish are carried by a bottom current through a calibrated mesh; this lets them through into a compartment next to the filters. There they can then grow safely, away from the hungry adults. After a few weeks feeding on pieces of food from the filters, they can return to live with the adults. This system only works for the young of live-bearing species (guppies, platies, etc.).

WHAT IS THE LIFESPAN OF A FISH?

A lot longer than in their natural environment, where they are subject to many dangers! In warm water, small fish generally live for 1 to 2 years (guppies, neon tetra, etc.) whereas the largest fish may live for over 10 years (discus, botia, etc.). Goldfish can live for up to 15 years.

HOW LONG SHOULD I WAIT BEFORE ADDING THE FISH?

You’ll need to be a little patient before being able to enjoy watching your fish swim around in your aquarium! In an aquarium where the filter media are new, you’ll have to wait a few weeks before adding your pets. The water and filters need to gradually be seeded with bacteria that can break down the organic waste produced by the fish. For the more impatient, we can provide products containing bacteria that can speed up this process.

CAN SEAWATER FISH BE ACCOMMODATED?

HOW MANY FISH CAN BE ADDED?

It all depends on the capacity of your aquarium and the fish species you want to have. Some need more space than others. Don’t forget that some fish are sold young and will grow. Also take into account the gregarious nature of certain species: these will suffer if they don’t live alongside other fish of the same species. The instructions supplied with your aquarium will give you all the advice you need for choosing your fish.

Plants

HOW LONG DO AQUATIC PLANTS LIVE?

In your aquarium, aquatic plants will be in just the right conditions in terms of temperature, lighting, water quality, etc., so they’ll be able to grow easily. Certain aquatic plants can live for several years, others (often semi-aquatic plants) have a shorter lifespan (a few months).

HOW CAN A PLANT IN A COLUMN BE CHANGED?

Nothing could be simpler: using our accessories (sold separately) tailored to the height of column aquariums, you can perform all the maintenance needed on your aquatic plants: a pair of secateurs to cut the leaves, a grab to remove dead or damaged plants, and wooden stick to dig a hole in the gravel for new plants. Don’t forget to ballast your plants before dropping them into this hole. With practice, this becomes very easy!

Managing aquarium settings

HOW MANY HOURS’ LIGHTING IS NEEDED?

Fish and plants alike need a minimum of light during the day. Depending on how light the room with the aquarium is, plan to put on the lighting for 6 to 10 hours per day. We recommend installing a timer to automatically regulate the lighting (fitted as standard on all our table aquariums).

SHOULD THE AQUARIUM LIGHT BE TURNED OFF AT NIGHT?

Fish need to rest at night and they need a natural, regular day-night cycle. You can leave the aquarium lit up until 11pm. To make things simpler, we recommend installing a lighting timer to manage the light in your aquarium (fitted as standard on all our table aquariums).

HOW MUCH ELECTRICITY DO YOUR AQUARIUMS USE?

Thanks to the LED lighting, the electricity consumption of our aquariums is very low: for a 180-litre warm-water column aquarium, allow for around €3 of electricity per month; a 200-litre cold-water table aquarium will consume less than €1 of electricity per month.

WHAT TEMPERATURE DOES THE AQUARIUM WATER NEED TO BE HEATED TO?

Cold-water aquariums (goldfish) do not need heating, and the water will reach room temperature. For warm-water aquariums, the water needs to be heated and kept at 25-30 °C, depending on the fish species. We install a heating system as standard in all our column aquariums, plasma aquariums, bar aquariums and aquaterrariums. A warm-water option can be added for our table aquariums, fountain aquariums and water walls.

How the aquarium works

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE WITH A TRADITIONAL AQUARIUM?

10 times less maintenance! 10 times more attractive! 10 times more balanced!

CAN THE AQUANIMAN FILTER SYSTEM BE ADAPTED TO AN EXISTING AQUARIUM?

We build the aquarium around its technical compartment; this means that our filter system forms an integral part of our aquariums and cannot be fitted to an existing aquarium.

WHERE IS THE TECHNICAL EQUIPMENT?

All the technical equipment (pump, filter system, and heating) is concealed as discreetly as possible: to the rear in column aquariums, in a corner for table aquariums, beneath the green plants in fountain aquariums, and to the sides for plasma aquariums. We make sure that it remains easily accessible. Furthermore, this allows space to be freed up in the base for storing maintenance accessories.

WHAT LIGHTING IS USED FOR YOUR AQUARIUMS?

All our aquarium models are fitted with LED lights as standard. In addition to using very little electricity and having a very long lifespan, LEDs reduce the growth of green algae on the glass by 90%, and nurture the growth of aquatic plants thanks to a high light spectrum (6000 Kelvin). What’s more, the aesthetic appearance is a class apart from the blinding glare of standard neon strips.

WHERE DO THE BUBBLES TO BE SEEN ON SOME OF YOUR AQUARIUMS COME FROM?

The water in our column aquariums, plasma aquariums and bar aquariums has to be aerated. This aeration is produced by a venturi effect using a nozzle known as a Giffard, and is visible in the form of small air bubbles propelled into the aquarium by the pump. The main benefit of this method is that it’s almost completely silent, as opposed to an air compressor.

After-sales service

ARE YOUR AQUARIUMS GUARANTEED?

We guarantee our aquariums for two years for watertightness. The technical equipment (heating and pumps) is also guaranteed by the manufacturers (1 year for LED lights).

WHERE CAN I FIND THE TECHNICAL PARTS AND DECOR?

You can order any technical part (LED, heater, etc.) directly from us. These will be sent to you by post. Similarly, we can supply you with high-quality consumables for your aquarium (bacteria, activated carbon, etc.), your fish (food, treatment against white spot disease, etc.) and your plants (fertiliser).

What should I do if I go away?

WHAT HAPPENS IF THERE’S A POWER CUT?

In table aquariums and fountain aquariums, the fish can survive for almost a week without there being any water agitation, as aeration is provided by contact with the air. In column aquariums, plasma aquariums and bar aquariums, the fish can survive for two days without the water being aerated. The temperature falls and they go into a state of hibernation. For warm-water fish, this temperature should not fall too low, for too long.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I GO AWAY FOR A SHORT TIME (E.G. A WEEKEND)?

Nothing at all! Your fish will fast and will be in even better health, and they’ll help to clean the aquarium, as they look for food. Simply install a lighting timer if you close your shutters.

WHAT SHOULD I DO WHEN I GO ON HOLIDAY?

Fish can fast easily for up to 8 days. For any longer, it’s advisable to have a food dispenser (available as an optional extra); this allows you to go away for up to 4 weeks, without any worries. With the Vacances pack, column aquariums, plasma aquariums, and bar aquariums, this dispenser is supplied, complete with lighting timer and a perforated top.

Lifespan

ARE AQUARIUMS – PARTICULARLY TABLE AQUARIUMS – FRAGILE?

We take all necessary care to make sure our aquariums are sturdy, with glass thickness that’s well above the required minimum, and tempered glass tops. That means you can lean on our table aquariums without any risk of them breaking.

WHAT’S THE LIFESPAN OF BONDED PARTS?

We guarantee our aquariums for two years, but don’t worry – they’ll last many years longer than that!

WHAT’S THE LIFESPAN OF PUMPS?

We use top-of-the-range, silent, robust, high-performance pumps. With a minimum of maintenance (cleaning once a year), their average lifespan is 10 years.

WHAT’S THE LIFESPAN OF THE HEATER?

Our immersion heaters can easily be used for 8 to 10 years.

WHAT’S THE LIFESPAN OF LED BULBS?

Our LEDs can produce an average of 20,000 hours of lighting – that’s almost 7 years at 8 hours a day.
